The fifth film to ever win Best Picture at the Oscars, "Grand Hotel" has aged a whole lot better than it should have. It's classic Hollywood grandeur. A pure melodrama.Think of it like a classical film theory course. You've got the 1930's studio system, star power, and early Oscar politics. All are on display here.
