'Miracle at St. Anna' Review - Michigan Daily

Spike Lee's attempt to make a war movie came out on DVD this week, and it probably won't be seen by many people. Few saw it in theaters, and it's unlikely everyone was just waiting to rent...

Yes, it's long, pontificating race relations set against WW2. At first glance. 

But try this one out. Lee is a master auteur, working more confidently than he has before, and at moments, he achieves lyrical artistry similar only to Malick's "Thin Red Line."
