The Frugal Theater: "The Paper Chase"

A few years ago, I snagged this on the cheap at Borders, and wanted to watch it with my Dad, who'd gone to law school in the late 1960s, early 70s. I'd heard of "Paper Chase" through murmurs and Roger Ebert's four-star endorsement. It holds up, incredibly well.

1. It just goes to show, that even if you weren't Coppola or Ashby, your American film would be good in the 1970s.

2. As a law film, and a school film, it's still smarter, funnier and truer than most. Minus, you know, professor's daughter affairs. At least, I didn't have any.

3. It was kinda cool to get a glimpse at what my Dad's education may have looked. Supposedly, this film's relatively accurate. Egads. And I could never share the "Animal House" comparisons on here — which may, or may not, be also accurate...

With that, check the movie out on hulu, for the free: http://www.hulu.com/watch/85269/the-paper-chase

Then, lament your educational experience.
