Yesterday, IMDB posted a link to more "we love Joss Whedon" fanfare. I don't particularly dig Joss Whedon. From the self-appointed throne of his "Whedonverse" (spaz!) to his stupid logo at the end of all his shows, he just irks me. Especially that logo, with it's "rawr" and "argh" business. There's got to be something else! Bear with me, my train of thought's making 15 turns.
With that video in mind, it recalls personal reassurances. These logos were like a seal of approval, something like the Disney music and icon with Mickey made me aware that I was in the right place, for the right kind of material. Thanks Mickey, you bastard. I'm stuck with the image of you in the red robe and sock helmet forever. Same with Hanna-Barbera or Gracie Films. Maybe that's why I became a confused art student. It's minute forms of art and entertainment!
Trust me, there's a cult for this crap on YouTube. Along with Evanescence tributes, and nut shots. YouTube truly is a great validator.
Oh the well.
Anyways, here are five favorites:
1. CBS FOX: Epic, early computer imagey in text.
Went well with: "George of the Jungle" tapes.
2. Warner Home Video: Again with the flaunting of the early 3D animation. Gotta love a "Cheezy Shield."
Went well with: "Police Academy" tapes. Shudder.
3. Golden Book Video: I'm starting to realize, that for people to be successful in logo design, they need a synthesizer to back the imagery. For mad real.
Went well with: My older brother's manly "He-Man" videos. Or, "Scuffy the Tug Boat?"
4. Hanna-Barbera Productions, Worldvision Enterprises: Oh, my, GOD! Oh, thank you. The star stopped. Phew. That was scary. But like, powerful.
Went well with: I think public access reruns of "Scooby-Doo." Rikes.

Any ideas? Personal favorites? Rubbish examples? Post.

Gracie always sticks in my head. Probably just for the sheer number of times I've seen it.
Amblin Entertainment is another one that sticks. It's the only logo I know of that showcases one of its first and most iconic films in the logo itself. It's like making sure people know it's legit even if the movie it precedes sucks. But, given its better than decent track record ("Back to the Future;" "Jurassic Park"), it's probably more a tribute to its genesis.

And then there's this gem that has been scorched into my childhood memory. As seen before countless numbers of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" videos:
