
No, this is not just to defend myself after being called a sexist so many times. I mean, just because you broads can't drive, doesn't give you the right to call me a pig! Now where was I? Oh yeah! "Grace of my Heart" is a nice mid '90s addition to the music superstar story canon. Like "Ray" and about fifty other biopics about the '50s to '70s and its music, "Grace" is an unofficial tribute to the music of Carole King. No, the main character's name isn't Carole, and Carole never hooked up with Brian Wilson. But, the story, style and music entice nonetheless.
3 Reasons to watch:
1. Allison Anders is a sadly underrated female director. Watch this, and if you're still interested in women's issues on film — entertainingly, thoughtfully so — then catch "Gas, Food, Lodging."
2. Illeana Douglas can act — and lip-synch — pretty damn well.
