"A Woman Under the Influence" Vault - Michigan Daily

A landmark from 1970's cinema, as well as a possible pick for one of my ten best films of all time.

This is possibly the best independent film ever. A guerilla masterwork from John Cassavetes that looks like a free-form jazz master in his finest moments. This is a heart-breaking story about love, marriage and about a million things in between.

Poetic, earnest and all too real, it's a beautiful drama, showcasing two perfect leads, Gena Rowlands and Peter Falk.

My Mom had gotten me the Cassavetes Criterion box-set in high school, you know, just to check it out. Oh, and we had a coupon at Borders. Nice one Mom.
