I Have a Dream: Hopkins

I knew I'd ruin his mind eventually.

But Hopkins posted this on FB yesterday, and being the ego-stroker that I am, I feel compelled to share this ish with you all. It's kinda freakin' awesome, and totally fulfills my delusions of grandeur:

Matt Hopkins

Matt Hopkins You can call this creepy, I don't care. Last night you were in my dream, along with Conan. You and I were hanging out in a post office (wtf, right?) and Conan walked in. For some reason he recognized you and you guys immediately started doing improv in the lobby of the building. I don't remember much else; however, Conan was markedly more racist than he is in real life.

Ha!

Post Stuff: SWEET BERRY WINE!!!

I mean, I know I'm three years late to the whole "Tim & Eric Awesome Show" phenomenon. But, it matters not. I've been screaming "Sweet Berry Wine!" at people alllll week. You may just scream it too.

Post Stuff: Image Dump.

This week in images:

1. DISCLAIMER: I am not making fun of my nephew. He is awesome. The Stay-Puft Marshmallow man is awesome. They have something in common there. Plus, in terms of appearances, they could be dopplegangers. Plus, my sis is thinking of making him up like this for Halloween. So, in the end, this picture is rad!

2. Spotted this on 4Chan. C'mon MJ.

3. Living in Suburbia (Say it to the tune of "Living in America").

4. I, well, oh ... guilty. Damn.

Post Stuff: Go Crazy Lenny.

My newfound fascination this week is Lenny Schultz. Lemme explain.

You'll either find this guy really schmaltzy, or pretty damn funny.

I was listening to a Marc Maron podcast interview with Robin Williams, and at a certain point in the interview, Williams begina discussing LA comedy scenes of the '80s, and talks about stand-up auteurism and people he remembers. Among his stories, the absolute funniest bit came when he discusses Lenny Schultz. From the interview:

"Like Lenny Schultz, and in the middle of one time, this is the strangest name in comedy. You know, giant Lenny, steroid, pumped-up Lenny, on stage doing a children's showcase for uh, Nickelodeon. And at one point he realizes this isn't going well. Then he pulls out a double headed dildo – 'HOW'S THIS FER YOUR FUCKIN' KIDS?!' And then starts playing it with 'Turkey and the Straw'"

Eh. Hehe.

The way Williams tells the story, I couldn't stop laughing for about 10 minutes. So, I looked up Schultz. And uh, maybe it's the sucker for physical gags, The Three Stooges and vaudeville in me, but this dude's pretty damn funny. Just go for the first few minutes, at least until Lenny goes all military crazy.

Post Stuff: Look at Me, Damnit.

This week in funky ass images.

1. My long-standing fetish for Nic Cage goes ape. Or monkey. Whatever.

2. California! Seriously, my one sister looks just like the nerdy girl that plays Super Mario 3 against the hero boy at the end.

3. Lastly, I can't decide on this one. Should it scare me? Or should it make me laugh? I'm leaning more towards laughing.

Post Stuff: 'Simpsons Dump'

Because, it's Friday.

Because, I will forever be a huge fan.

Because YouTube is a wonderful sharing device, when describing the humor of the 'Simpsons' just doesn't cut it.

Because, we all need some smiles and I've got a deep "Favorites' collection on Youtube.

Because, for today, my name is Guy Incognito.

I present to you, some of my favorites.

Post Stuff: Great Images

1. The new poster for "Inception" is killer cool. M.C. Escher with guns? Sweet!

2. Click for the superb image of Keir Dullea in "2001." I watched it on HD for the first time over the weekend, and it was a mixed experience. I mean, it was still gorgeous and powerful and plain beautiful at times ... but I've begun to see how optical effects were achieved thanks to the high def image. And that's the power of the film, weakened: I've never been able to figure out how "2001" made its images. Oh the well. Ch-ch-check it out.

Image Dump: You Laugh, You Lose.

No I am not being lazy.

OK, Sorry. I'm slacking on this blog here. So, here's a helluva lotta photos I've been nabbing over the last couple of weeks. No rhyme. No reason. They may make you laugh. In which case: The Game.

Ch-ch-check 'em out:

Proof That I'm Awesome

Dare to argue with me?

Thought not.

Post Stuff: My Sister's 'Save The Dates'

Lis, just say the word and I'll take these down.

I made these for my sister, who finally after 43 years of waiting, has agreed to a betrothing, to Prince Droopy. Again, tell what to take down Lis.

Art friends, critique if you like. Lis, don't read the comments, unless you comment first and then like, never look again.

Have a Happy St. Patrick's Day, Ya Filthy Animals

A Few Thoughts on This Day:

1. I'm not Irish, at all. I've often asserted that whatever Irish I have in me, the .08 percent that I have each year, is acquired through stereotypical drinking. Or someone was raped long ago... But have a happy holiday nonetheless!

2. I missed the Chicago River being dyed green. Dang.

3. There like, a Patty's Pub anyone wants to meet up with me at?

4. Sean Connery was Scottish right?

5. Have jokes about Irish, Chicago cops gone out of style?

6. Any chicks out there wearing those stupid flippy rings in a way that allows me to hit on you?

7. Fuck "Boondock Saints." I'm willing to fight over that shit.

8. Had a Second City classmate bemoan the fact that there was no South Side Irish parade last Sunday. I mean, it's only like, what, 60 arrests? That jackass I saw on ABC looked like he was having a good time.

9. Any green pukes you wanna share in the comments? I'll tell you about that that Chick and all that Guiness, '07, if you're interested. Put it in the comments.

10. Watch this and have a good green, if not probably grey day:

Editorial Note: It's damn sunny outside!

Post Stuff: Rollins' Surreal Conversation

Henry Rollins is one of those guys I can't thank my cool, older brother enough for introducing me to. Black Flag? Awesome. Henry did little but keep it alive and killer. But Rollins' Spoken Word? The guy's a gorilla genius. Blunt, to the point and often accidentally poignant, Rollins is a guy that you can't just stop listening to.

With that, I've got some Spoken Word stuff from Youtube to share. This whole thing on a weird ass conversation is worthwhile. The guy knows how to ramble out a good story.

But the first 3 non-sequitir minutes (specifically the image of Rollins in a crash helmet), is some of the funniest stuff I've ever heard.

BONUS!

I once interviewed Henry Rollins for the Daily. The article didn't make it in time, but the interview is on this blog. Check it:

Post Stuff: Max Tundra

Just obnoxious and techno-y enough for me to remember it. Just good enough that I'm not too embarassed to share it. Thanks to my big brudda for sharing it:

Post Stuff: Married to the Sea

Married to the Sea is one of my favorite comics. By taking old public domain images ranging frm 1950s smiling folks to classical romantic painting, husband and wife team Drew and Natalie Dee have arguably the funniest, if not most sporadically humored comic out there. Don't believe me? Check this mini gallery:

You should enjoy it too. Ch-ch-check out here: http://www.marriedtothesea.com/

Elon, "not Egon," Spengler, brother of Egon.

Note Nathan Thurm. Note Egon's hair post 1989.

Post Stuff: Please Tell Me

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED HERE?

Save the 4Chan-ery and jackass comments (to a minimum) and explain to me what you see.

Is this an isolated incident? Race related? A bigger deal than it should be? Important as hell? Something funny? A disturbing video?

Put it in the comments. I'm dying to talk to someone about this.
